MATTIA MURA
As a contemporary documentary filmmaker, my practice finds its place in a hybrid territory between art and chronicle, sociology and imagination. As I found out, documentary filmmaking is one of the most efficient mediums to spread meaningful examples of life, places, and choices to overcome limits."

NOMADIC ISLAND PROJECT
I am deeply interested in the Nomadic Island project: bordering territories and alternative ways of living are my main focus, not only as a documentary filmmaker but as a human being, too."
Temporary Island
Mattia worked with the participants to make a documentary film on Nomadic Island. His approach found its place in a hybrid territory between art and chronicle, sociology and imagination. Moving between the manifold artistic activities and the social moments of practical life at the camp, Mattia and his group depicted the people and their thoughts, dreams and hope for the future, underlying the beauty and need for a more sustainable society. Key words were: Disclosure, Aesthetic, Empathy.

Reflections after Nomadic Island
How it started...
Nomadic Island has been the biggest shift of this summer: I spent 3 weeks in a tent at the border between a forest and the civilization, sharing meals, ideas and thoughts with other 9 artists and a community of wonderful humans. It has been a boost for my activities and gave me new energies. I reconnected with practices that I wasn't using since a while (such as video installations and performance), and I had the opportunity to discover so many new perspectives that now I can share back in the places I will be! I think such opportunities - especially when they are International - are the key to build up a safer and wiser community on a European level. I felt It, and I guess my Nomadic companions felt It too!" |
...how it ended.
