STEPHANE BILLOT
I am very interested in the project because a big part of my work deals with housing, periphery and social interactions. But beyond my own artistic work I want to meet different peoples, discover a new context and territory, find a collective energy and way of working. And the most important : share experiences and good time!"

NOMADIC ISLAND PROJECT
To me, the Nomadic Island project means being human and changing the real into something beautiful and surprising. Or maybe simply build a temporary pirate utopia and find the gold of time in an ancient mine... Yeah!"
PIRATE UTOPIA
Stéphane focused his work with the participants on the construction of a modular structure, which would be used as a space for workshops, meetings and other activities. Furthermore, he wanted to foster the imagination of the local participants to build micro-installations to host different kind of performances in relation to the social and the environmental context. Key words of his concept were: ephemeral installation, alternative housing, pirate utopias, political and social experiment.

Reflections after Nomadic Island
This experiment was very intense ! The way of working and sharing (datas, art, knowledge, ideas, jokes...) with the other artists and the public was very interesting, like a new source of inspiration and empowerment. There was a beautiful energy with the other artists and also with « visitors », especially peoples which was involved in our projects, during hours or days. The horizontal way of working and the experimentation of actual alternatives (which could be the first step for the challenges of our time) was very strong and necessary too." |
...how it ended.
